So my cat is snoring next to me and I've dived into my emergency stash of mini-chocolate bars - yet again - so it seems like an appropriate time to focus on the positive: ep. 16 Blade Runners (which I totally forgive them for ripping off the title of one of my favourite movies because this episode was (finally) FANTASTIC!)
[Spoiler (click to open)]So much to love:

 • a Dean-focused storyline!!!! (can't say enough about that!)

 • funny that Dean was 'not Moose'

 • Dean's facial expression when Crowley talked about him not knowing what it felt like to feel human made me laugh

 • Jensen's great acting when he had the knife and appeared to be fighting it

 • Sam actually appearing to care

 • Dean being upset about his car being 'demonized' and rubbing at the scratch with his thumb

 • Mark Sheppard doing such a great job playing Crowley! Deliciously untrustworthy :)

 • It's Major Lorne, no it's Andy, no it's Cuthbert Sinclair lol!

The interesting and meh:

 • Snooki wasn't as bad as I thought she would be, and, boy, is she tiny!

 • is it just me, or is that crossroads rather familiar? I'm pretty sure they've used it a few times and was the one from the dancing meme

 • the boys really should have known what the latin meant on the box, and Crowley shouldn't have needed to translate (I am so nitpicky!)

 • Cuthbert's place was like Bobby's on steroids with all the supernatural collectibles and they just left it all behind??!!!

This has got to be one of the strongest episodes this season, and I loved it!

And now onwards and backwards to ep. 15 Thinman!

[Spoiler (click to open)]Liked last week's ep because the Facers ep's were some of my fave's, but, really, did they need to use a sledgehammer approach to tie the Ghostfacers and Sam and Dean's story-lines together? - which I totally don't agree with, btw. Sam was unconscious when he was dying; it wasn't like Dean could ask him if he wanted to live, and Sam himself had said when he took on the trials that he did so because he could see the 'light at the end of the tunnel' unlike Dean, so why would Dean have guessed otherwise? Therefore: Dean wasn't saving Sam strictly so he wouldn't be alone, unlike Ed with Harry who, though with the best of intentions, was taking the choice away from his friend that was in his own personal best interest.

And on a totally unrelated note: when is spring going to finally friggin' get here!!! *growls at snow still piled up outside and eats another chocolate bar*

Yes, I think that may have been my favourite episode so far this season. It's just a pity they had to spoil it with naff details like having the boys suddenly unable to read latin or enochian any more (please) and being able to summon a demon directly into s demon trap. Hey, writers, if it was that easy, don't you think they'd always have done it instead of going to all the trouble of summoning demons _then_ luring them into the trap? Otherwise, though, it was definitely one of the better eps this season and introduced some interesting possibilities future eps.

And you're right. Apparently there's only one crossroad in the whole of America :P

Unfortunately, the writers have a habit of being inconsistent and totally forgetting/disregarding what has previously been canon *sigh*
Sometimes I feel like I can just picture the writers in a room discussing storylines, with smoke of questionable source-age over their heads, and they're all "pfft! That was s.5, no one will remember!" ;p (Which actually works with the one crossroads in all of North America, too ;) )

I've kind of lowered my expectations these days so I only occasionally get angry, and I'm even occasionally surprised when an episode is better than I expected.

I totally agree, strongest episode this season IMO. I loved Crowley in this episode, great acting how he can go from crying as he watches old movies, (I was kind of thinking he'd end up watching Dean's Spanish tele novels LOL) to snapping the demon girls neck. And the look in his eye when Dean took out Cuthbert! Like he was planning his assault on hell with Dean on a leash leading the way. UGH!

And yeah Sam caring, I actually don't buy the whole argument and Sam's coldness. Sam has NEVER been cruel, especially not to Dean and hurt or not, he wouldn't be so mean and the logic doesn't hold.
Dean didn't think he was hiring assassin killer angel, but one of the good guys, and you're right Sam had just had a long soliloquy about wanting to live to see beyond all this. Sam would have done anything for Dean (Another plot point I'm ignoring of Carver's – I can't EVER believe that Sam wouldn't have tried to look for Dean, maybe given up after all the dead ends, but not look at all. No way)

But yes, dark, funny, tense and Snookie didn't ruin it! A total win.

Ghostfacers, yeah the sledgehammer approach was kind of disappointing, they could also have used huge neon signs over Dean's head. How stupid do they think fans are?

And grumbles with you. I feel like a northern hobbit, the ones in New Zealand have second breakfast, we have second winter! : )

Crowley was amazing! I actually like him better than Cas as a character because he's so unpredictable and you don't know if he's going to help or hinder.
"And the look in his eye when Dean took out Cuthbert! Like he was planning his assault on hell with Dean on a leash leading the way." YES!!! That look!!! You could just see the gears turning in his little weasely brain lol!

With Sam... idk, right now his whole character's attitude is based, imo, on faulty writing and I just don't buy it. It's almost a variation on his soulless!Sam, where this time he cares but only sorta.

That whole first part of s.8 with Amelia, and Sam happily moving on, really burned my buns because Sam not looking for Dean? Totally ooc.

Gah! This snow just won't end!!! I want flowers, I want to sneeze because of the pollen and show my pale, pale legs to blind unwary passers-by! But ooooh *lightbulb over head* you've given me a great idea: maybe I could make a hobbit house out of the snow. I've always wanted one of those ;)

LOL, I had the exact same thought about the Latin on the box. That was so weird. I thought for sure one of them would say the words along with Crowley at LEAST, you know? In a "yeah, I KNOW" way. Ah well.

Still so jazzed about the Dean storyline. I haven't been this freaking excited about Show in YEARS!

Gah! I am so with you on the excited front! Haven't watched the trailers for tomorrow's ep but I have high-ish hopes they can keep it up! :)
(P.S. sorry for the tardy response!)
